Luciana de Souza Pessôa holds a Bachelor’s degree (2002), Master’s degree (2004), and Ph.D. (2009) in Computer Science from the Federal Fluminense University, in addition to post-doctoral studies in Informatics from the Laboratoire d’Informatique de Paris 6, France (2012), and in Production Engineering from PUC-Rio (2015). Since January 2016, she has been a full-time faculty member in the Department of Industrial Engineering (DEI) at PUC-Rio, teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels (Master’s and Ph.D.). Luciana is a CNPq Productivity Research Fellow – Level 2, coordinating three projects funded by FAPERJ (ARC, APQ1, and Support for Graduate Programs in the State of Rio de Janeiro 2021), and serving as vice-coordinator of the FROG research group (Forecasting and Resource Optimization Group) established under the FAPERJ grant – Support for Emerging Research Groups in the State of Rio de Janeiro (Edital/2019). She has been the Departmental Coordinator for Internationalization since 2019. From 2017 to 2021, she served as Coordinator of the Production Management Area in the Graduate Program (PPG) in Production Engineering at PUC-Rio. She is involved in R&D projects in telecommunications and the oil & gas industry. Luciana is a reviewer for various reputable journals (e.g., EJOR, COR, ITOR) and a member of the program committee for international conferences (e.g., Metaheuristics International Conference, International Conference on Computational Logistics). She has experience in the fields of Computer Science and Production Engineering, with an emphasis on Operations Research, primarily focusing on the development of computational methods for solving combinatorial optimization problems, especially heuristics and metaheuristics.
