Leonardo Bastos is a professor on the main board of the Department of Industrial Engineering (DEI) since 2022. His research interests involve the development and application of Data Science- and Artificial Intelligence-based tools to improve decision-making and process. He has experience in statistical models and data analysis, including predictive modelling and machine learning, causal inference, and optimization methods to assess and improve Healthcare systems, aligned with the research project “Machine Learning” from the research line “Statistical Methods and Analytics”, from the “Operations Research” research area within the postgraduate program in Production Engineering. He coordinates the postgraduate program’s Strategic Planning and Self-evaluation Committee since 2023. He coordinates the Center for Healthcare Operations and Intelligence (Núcleo de Operações e Inteligência em Saúde – NOIS), a research laboratory from DEI that aims the improvement and optimization of health services and resources by means of scalable and accessible data-driven solutions.
